Portrait of a Historic Town
[A Few Days of Homeless Landscape Photography in Winter, Pt. III]
A couple of years ago, it was this very old town where I fell in love. It was the summer of 2016, and still dark outside while I drove, and she slept by my side most of the car ride. We arrived, and began our hike up to the castle ruin. I remember motivating her to keep up the pace, the sky was already getting brighter. On top of the castle ruin, we had a wonderful view onto the landscape and village far below. There was a crescent moon to the left, and some mist in the valley. As we embraced, the sun finally rose. I wished it never ended.
Since then, I continued to visit this town nevertheless. Lately, I tried to capture it in the way I had always imagined it. Standing there all on my own in winter, observing, unnoticed and quietly. I doubt that she ever came back. But I do.
